THE HEALTH EDUCATION OFFICE
Research has proved that some of the best ways to improve health include lifestyle changes such as maintenance of a healthy body weight through diet and exercise, smoking cessation and limited alcohol consumption. To this end, the Urban League Health Education Office (HEO) provides information to adults across the lifespan on various health conditions and offers health screenings such as blood pressure measurement, BMI calculation and fat analysis. The HEO is staffed by a registered nurse provided by the University of Pittsburgh, School of Nursing. In collaboration with the University of Pittsburgh Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI), the Health Education Office (HEO) provides a link between the community and researchers. The HEO invites those interested in enrolling in a research study to contact the office for additional information.
