The mission of the Urban League movement is to enable African Americans to secure economic self-reliance, parity and power, and civil rights.

We believe it is imperative that appropriate resources of the Greater Pittsburgh Community be marshaled to ensure equal social, political, and economic justice for all Americans.  To that end, the Urban League of Pittsburgh will provide bold leadership and innovative programs, services, and policies, which will contribute to the strength of the greater Pittsburgh region by ensuring that African Americans achieve their full potential.  With the active engagement of community partners, the Urban League will serve as a premier advocate for economic opportunity and justice that lead to significant improvement in the equality of our lives.
